Nintendo Absolved

Nintendo may be making strange business decisions in recent years, but they clearly saw what it would mean for their future if they made their radically different “remote” controller the only input option for the Revolution.

While there are no official prototypes or pictures of the device available from Nintendo, the existence of a “standard” controller shell for the remote has been confirmed. This device would most likely house the remote itself, much like the Dreamcast controller’s VMUs. IGN provided a mockup a couple days ago of what it might look like:

I feel like a burden has been lifted from my shoulders. A controller design for a next-generation videogame system shouldn’t mean that much to me, but I was seriously concerned and a little distraught for several days after the unveiling of their remote.

Clearly, I lead a very difficult life.
