Nokia Cans the N-Gage, Nobody Cares

Posted by zhx on November 25th, 2005 filed in All, Video Games

Word on the street is that Nokia is bowing out of the handheld gaming market by quietly discontinuing the N-Gage. I’m really, really surprised they let it go this long (just over 2 years). I also did some quick calculations and discovered that yes, not a single person on the planet cares.

“My” New Pocket PC

Posted by zhx on November 24th, 2005 filed in All, Computers

They apparently like me at work, because my boss gave me a Compaq iPaq h3950 to use on the job. I’m supposed to dock it at my workstation every morning to sync with our Exchange server, so I can get my mails and appointments for the day. Of course my golden rule of electronics is [...]

The Next Step

Posted by zhx on November 19th, 2005 filed in All, Computers

So a couple weeks ago, I get off work and I’m sitting on my computer enjoying a beer after five hours of dealing with the type of people that order office supplies at 10 at night. I was honestly starting to panic, as my decision to work at Officemax was based entirely on the need [...]

Sony’s DRM Bullshit Round 3

Posted by zhx on November 19th, 2005 filed in All, Music

So Sony has dropped their rootkit ‘copyright protection’, but another interesting development has come to light:

I was really caught off guard, but immediately grabbed the controller. The system itself is gorgeous. I really like the design, but it was difficult to get a feel [...]

Sony Cans the DRM Bullshit

Posted by zhx on November 11th, 2005 filed in All, Computers, Music

I guess Sony pissed off enough of the right people and has dropped their rootkit copyright protection from BMG’s audio CDs. This is a complete 180° from just a couple days ago when they were basically denying that their rootkit software was anything to get worked up over.
Still though, don’t buy Sony’s products.

Sony’s Sweet New DRM Bullshit

Posted by zhx on November 10th, 2005 filed in All, Computers, Music

Man, just when I thought there was no possible way I could loathe Sony more than I already do, they introduce an AWESOME new DRM…”technique”, which basically roots your Windows box in order to keep you from “abusing” BMG audio CDs.
Yes, buy a CD from Sony, toss it in your computer, and you must “OK” [...]

GameFAQs is Dumb

Posted by zhx on November 4th, 2005 filed in All, Video Games

So GameFAQs has helped me quite a bit over the years, and I finally decided I’d like to contribute something. In my recent tradition of staring at my DS screen REALLY close and transferring something pixel by pixel, I decided to transcribe the Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow map, because the one on GameFAQs looks like [...]
