GameFAQs is Dumb

All, Video Games November 4th, 2005

So GameFAQs has helped me quite a bit over the years, and I finally decided I’d like to contribute something. In my recent tradition of staring at my DS screen REALLY close and transferring something pixel by pixel, I decided to transcribe the Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow map, because the one on GameFAQs looks like it was made in paint, is tacky as hell, and is a little inaccurate in places.

I spent about four hours throwing together a very complex map, along with a gridded numbering system and submitted it to them. It was rejected because they already have a map for Castlevania DS. A little miffed but not deterred, I added a map of the Abyss location, since their current map doesn’t cover it. REJECTED AGAIN for “duplication”, even though MY map is vastly superior and actually has an area the other does not.

STUPID. So I spent all this time making this map for which I have no use (I’ve basically slaughtered the game, myself), and now I can not put it in a position where other people can use it. Weak. Well, here it is, for whatever it’s worth.

Holy crap. That is seriously detailed. Nice job. If nothing else, I’ll probably use it.

All their games have about 5 different walkthroughs. Why the hell can’t they have a second map? You’d think they would at least compare the two or something.

It’s a good effort alright, but it’s still missing detail. I would consider it a contender if it had mirror locations, boss locations, where items are, etc. In fact, with those things added, I’d say even GameFAQ’s would accept it.
Otherwise it’s not much more useful than the map that’s already there. Sorry.

Thanks for the abyss map. I wish I had found it sooner.
