New Sounds

All, Music March 20th, 2006

We’ve been kicked out of our loft early and have taken temporary refuge in the dudes’ basement while resident band Death to the King records (and their equipment is out of the way). We spent a good portion of yesterday moving our ridiculous amount of equipment to a tiny little half-soundproofed room and setting up our recording equipment. It’s really a bummer that we’re going to have to be looking for a new place in less than a month again, because we’re getting really good results with our recording in this room. The acoustics in the loft just didn’t work at all.

So, I present you with another Troutmouth clip. Why clips? Because I can pick and choose parts where we mess up the least and it makes us sound like we don’t suck as much. This song used to have a title, but we have dropped it in favor of a new not-yet-made-up title. This begins about halfway through the song, where we go all jam-band for a brief moment and space out in an otherwise pretty straightforward rock tune. I think we pull off the build pretty well here, even if we’re still fucking up all over the place. Honestly, it’s not really that bad, especially since we wing this breakdown every time (can go between 1-3 minutes…) and our new “lead” guitarist makes up his part as he goes. 90% of the time this produces phenomenal results, 10% of the time…not-so-hot, and 100% of the time annoying. Fucking jazz students.
