Nordic Thunder’s 3.5 Seconds of Fame

All, Blog Entries July 18th, 2006

Was busy at work when I received a phone call from none other than Nordic Thunder himself:

“Bill! I just got two voice mails from friends of mine that said I was the “Moment of Zen” on the Daily Show tonight. I missed the episode AND the rerun, so I haven’t seen the clip. Look for it and get back to me!”

He called about 5 minutes before the rerun of tonight’s episode was over, so I ran to the front of the bar, changed one of the TVs to Comedy Central, and cranked the volume. Sure enough, Jon Stewart announced the Moment of Zen, and 3 five-second clips of national finalists were aired, one of them being Nordic Thunder in all his loin cloth-covered glory, wailing an invisible guitar. Several people in the bar (that knew who he was) erupted in laughter.

“WHAT THE HELL IS JUSTIN DOING ON THE DAILY SHOW?!!! IN A LOIN CLOTH!!!!!”

I was hoping to download the episode tonight and post the clip on my blog, but was not able to find a download. Maybe in a day or two…
