Holy Hell, The Radio Sucks

All, Music November 6th, 2006

I know, profound, right? Unfortunately, I get forced into listening to a couple hours of one of our town’s two “classic rock” radio stations (hint: they may as well be the same station) during my Monday shift every week. Don’t get me wrong, I like a lot of classic rock. I like Black Sabbath, AC/DC, and Van Halen. I like Led Zeppelin, Heart, and Pink Floyd. Hell, I even like some classic Aerosmith, but do you know what all these bands have in common? They all wrote more than two songs each. Know what else? There were hundreds upon hundreds of other recording artists during this same era. Many of them even had some good songs! You wouldn’t think one entity could single-handedly ruin Dio for me, but they’ve succeeded.

Why exactly do they employ DJ’s? To make sure no other CDs sneak into that twenty disc changer? They’ve distilled an entire generation of music down to a handful of songs, which I guess they put on random while they sit and read a magazine. Oh well, I guess it beats my old networking job, where I was forced to listen to conservative talk radio from 8-5.

Don’t forget listening to the 12 days of the X-Mas remixed with farts. That was pretty rad.
