So You’ve Seen the Puppy/Cliff Video, Yeah?
In the past 24 hours or so a video of an American soldier in Iraq throwing a puppy off a cliff has gotten a lot of attention online. If you haven’t seen it, I strongly suggest you keep it up. Dead fucking serious.
Now, I’ve been using the internet for a long time — I’ve fucking seen it all. I distinctly remember the first time I was Goatse’d, and it’s all downhill from there. During the height of the 2 Girls 1 Cup hysteria, I even went on a personal crusade to find a more offensive, shocking video (which I believe I found in the infamous BME Pain Olympics video). You might think I’d be jaded at this point. So I’m not sure what possessed me to click a link on Reddit that read “US Soldier Throws Cute Puppy Off Cliff (Disturbing Video).” What did I expect to see? The title just about sums it up — It’s a disturbing video of a US soldier holding a puppy by the scruff of its neck, pretending to show it affection before casually throwing it off the side of a mountain. As it yelps its way to the rocks below, his equally inhuman cameraman observes “That was mean, man,” and all involved smile and shrug it off. I desperately wish it was faked, but it doesn’t appear to be, and I don’t want to watch it again to analyze it. Of all the horrible, horrible things I’ve seen online I really only truly regret watching this ONE video, which is why I’m not directly linking to it.
It’s the most infuckinghuman thing I’ve ever seen. Is this the sort of respect of life you learn, the resulting dehumanization you suffer from spending time in battle? In this respect the true cost of war cannot be quantified just in terms of trillions of dollars spent and civilian lives lost. Ironically, had I been present, I don’t believe I would have felt any remorse in shooting him in the kneecaps and pushing him off as well. Oh, the difference being I would have subsequently accepted responsibility for my actions. My reaction to the video was strangely instinctual: I wanted to hurt this guy. A lot. This is a shining example of relative morality: Do I believe this guy’s life is somehow more precious than the defenseless animal he killed? Absolutely not. In fact, I believe this is the premise for A Time to Kill 2.
I wasn’t alone in wanting to unsee the video. It probably ruined the next month of my life. Fortunately, somebody else had the foresight to post a “counter” video of a 13-day-old hamster eating a piece of broccoli, which I will be directly linking, to help offset the psychological damage.
Enjoy. And support your troops, except for that piece of shit that threw the puppy off the cliff.
Update: So as of about six hours ago The Internet has potentially identified the soldier. You can check out his Bebo account here, where, despite the fact that this is all unconfirmed (though very likely), The Internet is wishing him luck in all future endeavors, as well as posting his personal information such as home address and cell phone number. My favorite part of his profile, besides everything, is his answer to “Scared of:” (Hint: he put “NOTHING!”), which is totally unnecessary to point out, since everybody knows you have to be a total badass to throw puppies off cliffs. This guy is going to be a target for a special brand of hate crime for a long, long time. I mean, of course, if the electronic lynch mob has the right guy.
Here’s my theory: The Church of Scientology paid this guy to videotape himself throwing a puppy off a cliff to get The Internet off their back.
Update Again: Well, his Bebo account has since been made private, as well as his two sisters’ Bebo accounts, which were also getting a lot of comments. All of his family members whose numbers were publicly posted online have been disconnected. A US Marine Corps spokeswoman also says they’re investigating the incident.

And this is just one more reason this patriotic bullshit of “honoring our military” pisses me off, as if every single soldier is fighting for a higher cause, or is so super altruistic and wonderful…That sort of “patriot” can’t admit that most people in our volunteer army are there because it’s really one of the few options available for them, especially if they want to pursue an education. As for the other reasons, how about cuz they’re into power and want to kill things?

I can only hope that by now, other marines have had the privilege of viewing this clip with the same kind of anger and disgust I am feeling right now. I hope David Motari & friends are painfully coming to the shocking realization that they will never see their loved ones again as they are being brutally beaten and maimed.

Most military personnel are honorable, loyal, ethical individuals. There are cruel, idiotic, evil people in every facet of humanity and newsflash, there are far more sleazeballs and criminals in your ranks than those of military personnel.

Yeah, they’re overgeneralizing a bit. But I have several friends in the military (or ex-military) that would more or less agree. I think all they’re saying is that the army basically attracts two types of people: EXTREMELY desperate college-seekers, or the type of person that is attracted to the police force. What I don’t get–
Assuming it’s a real video- why do people get all freaked out and pissed over this stuff but are able to stay in total denial about the same sorts of atrocities being committed against actual HUMAN BEINGS?
It is not an indictment against the troops as a whole to acknowledge that this kind of shit goes on in a war which was ill-conceived and is clearly completely out of control, and especially where there is no accountability for the mercinaries running around doing god-knows-what…
I mean we’ve seen the videos of the guys shooting randomly at civilians in the trucks and yet radio talk show losers like Michael “Savage” act as apologists for this kind of behavior, or deny it exists.

I like to think of myself as an extremely diplomatic guy. I would love to kidnap this guy and make a hostage video out of him, demand $10,000,000 from his family, and when they can’t afford it, make a beheading video out of him. I would then like to post a video on youtube of me hurling his head off a cliff then laughing about it. Finally, I’d dump the remains of his body (which I will have chopped up into pieces) on his family’s front door step, and I might even go and get the head and put it on a stick and stick it in their garden.
And then repeat with the other guy in the video.

I think a person who can take a completely unassuming, innocent animal - whether or not it was unbelievably cute, which it was, but just any innocent animal - and just kill them like that and laugh about it, just makes me so mad that I would love to kill him just to watch him die. I’d go to jail to avenge that defenseless puppy.
Unfortunately, I think that someone will probably get to him first.
I just keep telling myself that maybe it was some sort of hoax (you don’t actually see the dog when he takes his arm back) or the dog survived (you never know). But this guy has some explaining to do. If it comes out that this is real and he walks free, I won’t feel bad at all hitting him with my car and backing over him.
Sorry to be so violent, but it makes me feel better talking about ways of killing him. After all, it looked like he enjoyed killing that puppy.

What more can you expect from someone who grows up in a Bush Uh-mur-ica. We toss guns into the hands of thirteen year olds and expect eight year olds to shoot field mice and birds with their BB guns. I don’t believe that the desensitization has anything to do with Rambo movies and Grand Theft Auto games but more with the reality of murder being instilled in kids as young a possible, murder without a purpose. I can’t count how many fucked up things I saw kids do to animals when I was a kid, every action without a second thought or an ounce of remorse.
Its disgusting and if I found a bunch of random forums and blogs through a haphazard google search to yell about it on I would fix it, providing that I make it sound like I have some insight on social and political situations even if I get all of my information from Jon Stewart and just regurgitate it with violent words and empty threats towards people that I will never meet or even see because the anonymity makes me super tough and a completely different person.
Sorry to be so sarcastic, but it makes me feel better talking about ways to make anyone notice me or care about me. After all, I am just some tool that thinks his opinions matter literally everywhere even though exact copies of my opinions can be found in any random forum.

I can never forget the scene, unfortunately I saw it in breaking news. I am blaming his family as well, how could they raise such a sick soul? Anyone who thinks hurling a puppy off a cliff, or hurling a puppy at ALL, is humorous, needs to be hurled off a cliff. I am dead serious.
I watched the video by accident, and found this blog by links. I just wanted to say… First of all, I do not find the death of a human nearly as disturbing as the extremely cruel death of a puppy or any other animal. Why? Because every other movie and TV show I have watched for most of my life has had people dying in it. Every night there are people dying in the news. How often have you actually SEEN a puppy hurled off a cliff?
I have heard that the Marine in question has returned home from duty. I hope he is gang-raped and shot.

I just want to say:
A. I love the Marines, I was one and as a now college grad with a good job and pretty damn intellegent (and before anyone points it out spelling and grammer are not my strong points.
B. Don’t think this sick fuck is a rep for the Marines, yes Marines recruit some sick people but walk into your local mall, high school, restraunt, you’ll find sick fucks there too just the marines make the sick sicker and the good better.
C. And in my pov the most important. If I were in this guys squad either he would have followed the puppy or the next day there’d be a “friendly fire” incident. Just stumbled in… thanks for not posting the video, too many people out there only make the problem worse. I agree this guy is very very messed up. Screw “coping”. Where do you draw the line of “coping”? His family doesn’t deserve to be drug into all of this, nor do the rest of the Marines.

I feel the same as all the normal people on here - sickened and disgusted, and I will probably never forget the cries of that puppy as it went to its death, its last few seconds of life/conciousness ones of absolute (needless) terror. And it is true there are many many soldiers out there who have ben filmed doing similar things. Not fit to consider themselves human or indeed animals. Check out this link however to some idiot who claims he has “the mindset of a champion” - this is just one of several stories he tells of animal abuse he’s perpetrated during his twisted selfish life.
