Who Are These People and Why Does Myspace Want Me to Embrace Them?

All, Randomness March 28th, 2008

For at least the past six months, about one in 20 (though it FEELS far more common) logins to Myspace produces one of the following two profiles under “Cool New People.”

I spend about one full second on the main page — just long enough to click “login” — yet these two pictures are obnoxious enough that I still take notice. I first began to realize I was seeing these people A LOT last summer — who knows how long the two profiles had already been invading my subconscious…

Clearly neither of these people are “new,” and “cool” is debatable to say the least, between that giant, frame-filling hat and that sweet combination unitard/neckerchief.

Check this out, I first clicked the bookmark link to your blog and saw those two pictures; I immediately thought I had accidentally went to MySpace somehow. Without hesitation, I went back to my bookmarks and clicked on your blog link again. =/

I’m telling you, those two pictures are always on the front page. Oh, the other one I see a lot is “Charles,” the asian kid with thick-rimmed glasses.

Okay so I’ve never seen either of those people before and after I read your blog I went to myspace and dudeballs with the spandex was there on the front page. I laughed really hard & requested him to be my friend.
