The Cancer That’s Killing Skateboarding

All, Skateboarding April 18th, 2008

A couple weeks ago I was going through the new Skateboarder Magazine and stumbled across a full-page ad for got2b hair care products depicting some lame-ass non-skateboarder model on a skateboard showing off how much attitude his hair has. It had been a while since I picked up a Skateboarder Mag, so maybe they’ve just completely sold out.

But two days ago I picked up the new Thrasher (Skater of the Year issue) and found the exact same ad. In a THRASHER. It’s pushing a product line called Unstoppable, consisting of a spray-on shaper, a power styling gel and some thick goop that comes in a canister shaped like a giant skateboard wheel. *rolls eyes, can see own brain* Gimme a fucking break.

Shame on you, Thrasher.

Because now you’re heartbroken that you’re not Ryan’s ideal girlfriend?

  6. mom Says:

Well you know, that’s quite a package there, the hair, the abs, AND he can skate? Wow! BTW, who says I’m not his ideal?

I like The Skateboard Mag for their photos and layout. Easily the best DESIGNED skate mag. I liked Thrasher for their street cred, which apparently was a lie.
