Redeeming Myself

So even though the high ollie contest completely killed my spirit, I only took one day off of skateboarding (mostly because it was physically impossible to), and yesterday I headed up to the skatepark with Shawn, and pulled off my first triple kickflip in front of many of the same kids that saw me fail [...]

Fuck Skate Contests

Well, I choked.
Competition got pretty thin after about 24 inches, and about 6 guys were competing past that. I knew I could place, I was positive, but I can’t skate under pressure; my legs were shaking. You don’t really think about it until they set the bar up and you hear your name called, and [...]

Ugh

Tonight was Monica’s birthday. I didn’t drink THAT much, but it was enough for me to kill myself on my skateboard on the way home. Tore open my existing road rash, AND tore one of my last good pairs of pants.

…really excited about it…

Skate News

So the second annual Casper Skate Competition is this Saturday. I’m…not very fond of contests, to put it lightly. This will be my 4th competition experience, though only the 2nd official contest I will be entering in some capacity.
The first competition I entered was about 7 years ago or so. It was really unofficial; several [...]

Heyyy, Now Here’s a Dumb Fad

Brainstorming roundtable:
Exec #1: “Those stupid scooters were a HUGE hit! Who could have possibly seen it coming?”
Exec #2: “They took an established but dead fad and put a hip, modern, edgy spin on it!”
Exec #3: “How could we possibly follow an act like that?”
Exec #1: “Okay okay, see if you can follow me here: What [...]

Tuesday Night at the Skatepark

The Casper Skatepark is an interesting place. Once seen as a “beautification project” by the city; a place where parents would drop off their grade-school kids for the day, it has long since been orphaned and the ramps and surrounding area have fallen into disrepair. It is a fairly popular hangout for non-skateboarding types, and [...]

Some Skate Photos

Just came back from the skatepark to get some oil for my bearings but can’t find any. I decided to fix up a couple shots I took today, along with a couple older shots. Skateboarding is the reason I started taking pictures, afterall. The problem is finding the best skateboarders in town at the right [...]

Park Photos

Finally fell asleep in my basement at around noon today only to be woken up about 6 hours later by a serious thunderstorm. I recently came up with the idea of putting together a zine about the local skate scene, tentatively entitled “Gnarcosis”, which would be a stupor induced by raw Gnar. For whatever reason, [...]

Huh…

Danny Way may have just 360°d the Great Wall of China, but I’m pretty sure I set a world record today, too…only it’s for the dumbest thing ever done on a skateboard.
Yeah, so… achy.wmv (~757k)
I was originally going to post several attempts of this…feat, but I figured this clip was much funnier taken out of [...]
